Curing Alkyd Coating - Synteko Classic
Synteko Classic is a fast-drying, two-part, acid-curing hardwood floor finish for interior use based on alkyd resins in a solvent mixture. This finish has an amber colour, enhancing natural wood colours. Synteko Classic delivers an extremely durable, long lasting beautiful finish. It is suitable for residential and commercial timber floors. Synteko Classic is self-sealing and its excellent workability and fast drying time provide the benefit of one-day application. It is available in Matte, Satin, Gloss.
While it is a solvent- based product, the VOC levels are below the strict EU standards. It is also classified as a “conversion varnish”, meaning that unlike other solvent-based products (polyurethanes) it cannot be “re-activated” when attacked by strong solvents. Once this product is cured, it’s hardness cannot be compromised. This gives Synteko Classic excellent chemical resistance compared to other film-build coatings.
With excellent adhesion this coating can withstand the common pitfalls of many modern, exotic timbers- namely oils, saps and other contaminants which can compromise the adhesion of most coatings. For extremely oily timbers, a specialist primer is available.
However, probably the most appealing aspect of Synteko Classic, as testified by it’s many users, is the appearance. As well as being a non-yellowing coating (unlike solvent-based polyurethanes) it is not statically charged during the drying process, therefore it does not attract airborne dust. The result is a silky-smooth appearance which only pre-finished floors can match.
