LAGLER
GOES HYPER!
Team Lagler are
purchasing a new Phoenix/ HyperMaxRacer kart for
season 2007. Despite setting the second fastest
race lap of the day in the final meeting for 2006,
and the first meeting on full licence, Patrick
decided the HyperMax was a better bet going forward.
"
I expect to do well with it, but part of the reason
is that we've got some great sponsors in Lagler
and now SIA Abrasives, and they deserve to be
on a machine that looks as good as it goes"
"Jon
and Dean Crooke have rattled some cages because
they have innovated and set the bar higher. Besides
that, before I'd even paid a cent Jon had already
given me full consultation and professionally
designed livery. That's just the kind of service
superkarting needs"
A
little under a year ago, Lagler's MD Cameron Luke
barely knew what superkarting was. Having enjoyed
the involvement thus far, he instructed Patrick
to "go Hyper".
"Apart
from being a competitive kart, Hyper Racing believes
in promotion and presentation" says Cameron.
"If superkarting wants sponsors to invest
their money in the sport, it needs more of this".
Lagler
are arming themselves with the Phoenix 30/32 chassis
with 50mm axle, long track steering geometry,
and new updated aero, whilst using the Hyper seat
and steering wheel off the old kart, and the old
series 1 engine. "It's a bit long in the
tooth but still honks along okay". says Patrick.
The
engine was built by Grant Lindstrom of Pro-Karting
at Thomastown and has proven to be, at least,
reliable.
At
the same time, Team
HyperMaxRacer have enlisted two new drivers,
one each for light and heavy weight divisions,
and one Junior. This will be close to representing
half the Rotax field.
With
top-running light competitor Brad Stebbing stepping
up to a Hyper Racer, and World Rotax Masters Champion
Mark Wicks running in heavies, it would be a brave
person to bet against a Hyper taking out silverware
in 2007.
