MOTORSPORTS
GOVERNING BODY TAKES OVER INTERNET FOR THE GREATER
GOOD
|
Shock
this week in the techno-nerd community as motorsport's governing body, with backup
from associated clubs, took over the internet in a bloodless coup. According
to sauces, some of them unsavoury, the Governing Body didn't have an easy time
wresting control of the internet from it's inventor, Al Gore, until they offered
to purchase several million carbon credits from his other company.
 Al
Gore and the Internet, yesterday | Spokespersona-non-grata
for the Governing Body, ex factory Trabant driver Marx Stalenin, claimed the coup
was neccessary "for the Greater Good".
"In the absence of professional-level reporting, publishing or promoting
race results and other such things by the Governing Body and associated clubs,
some individuals have resorted to doing it themselves using this interweb thingy"
said Stalenin yesterday."We
are outraged at some of the things people have been publishing on this worlwide
net doohickey". |
Although he refused to name examples of maverick publishing activity, concerned
he would violate copyrights by using wrong words, Stalenin offered this; "Some
individuals have taken it upon themselves to state who won, what they won, how
fast they went, and in some cases, even naming the circuit they were driving on"
said Stalenin yesterday. "This is not acceptable. The only logical way to kontrol
this was to take over the internet, for the Greater Good, of course". | Stalenin
inferred that their control wouldn't stop with motorsport information. "For example,
a church group recently named a local philanthropist on their website as 'man
of the year'. Who are they to assume they can own and allocate the title of 'man'
and 'year' at their whim? What about other men? Or years? No, such arrogance needs
to be curtailed. It's for the Greater Good" he repeated, several times, possibly
also saying something like "It's for The Children", we're not sure.

We
were later contacted by the governing body and told
that we were not permitted to publish the terms "Greater
Good " or "For The Children " as they are
now registered trademarks.
