Atherton
to miss Club series Rd 1 due to injury
Sorry...did
I say "injury"?? I meant..."surgery"
Even I
used to think that motorsport, no matter what level, was glamourous
in some way. Well, it can be if you're Mark
Wicks or Chris Jewell,
what with their turn-up-and-drive lifestyle, crepes and caviar,
jet-setting in aircraft piloted by John Travolta, and so on...
For the
rest of us, it just isn't. Sometimes real life gets in the
way. Trying to squeeze long-needed elective surgery into a
bumper calendar like 2008
with enough time for recovery was always going to be a challenge.
But at
least my previously deranged left-foot now has toes that are
mostly pointing in the right direction, after a Hallux Valgus
correction (that's a sexy way of saying "angle-grind-bone-from-the-bunion
operation") in early January, just in time for my Orthopaedic
Surgeon to put a deposit on his new Audi RS4. Now my foot
looks like the udder on a dead bloated purple cow.
Not quite
as exciting as saying that my being on crutches is due to
a spectacular testing crash during off-season.
Apologies
to our loyal sponsors ARBORITEC
and our team HYPER
RACER but with a fantastic race calendar for 2008
courtesy of the Superkart Club there will be plenty of track
time this year.
