Oxford Oak makes one of the most stable engineered timber floors available on the Australian market, with up to 6mm wear layer on top of a cross section of hardwood birch veneer. It can be re-sanded several times and therefore has a long lifespan in excess of 60 years if well maintained.

Another of the many benefits of this is that it is highly suitable for under floor heating, where most solid timbers are less suitable.

They are available in natural tones and are wide boards, a highly desirable look.

These are significantly more stable than solid plantation timber. The boards will undertake significantly less shrinkage, expansion or cupping, if at all.*

Local Species
We also have a range of engineered Spotted Gum and Blackbutt in 15mm x 127mm wide. Solid Spotted Gum has a reputation for high sap and oil content, and can cause problems with installation (instability and movement) to coating (rejection of some coatings). Once again, engineered provides the best option for maximum stability, making for the most trouble-free installation and life.

The more environmentally sustainable method of construction should also be considered. For every 1 square metre of 20mm solid wood flooring, 4 times the amount of engineered flooring.
